FPME Revamped!

Freelance Photography Made Easy (FPME) has undergone a complete revamp to help improve the growing community of freelance photographers and to bring it up-to-date with today's web.

New Design

The site is now slicker and the simpler layout makes it easier for users to navigate the website. Some interface tweaks were made to the basic features too so they're now even easier to use.

Public User Profiles

For the first time on FPME, users can now create a public profile which others can visit. This is a great way for users to tell the community a little bit about themselves and promote their freelance photography services. You can now choose your own display name to be known by on the site as well as link up a gravatar avatar for added personalisation.

Improved Freelance Photography Job Boards

The old image request system as been converted into a new job boards. Here any user can browse the available freelance photography jobs available exclusively on FPME as well as jobs found from across the web. The job board is automatically up dated with fresh jobs every day. This is a great tool for anyone looking to find more freelance work. Users can also post available jobs for others to contact them about. This is perfect for those who need to outsource work or need to find photographer assistants.

Enhanced Articles and News

Some minor enhancements have been added to the news and articles systems. Users can now comment on freelance news and articles as well as share these posts on any of the popular social networks on the web.

Yes it appears that is the case, just jobs.

Does this mean that Image requests for submission for potential publication are no longer a feature of FPME ?

I thought part of the idea of FPME was to give photographers an opportunity to submit images, either already in their own Library or to go out and shoot something specific, for possible publication and hopefully get paid for it ;)

Way back, I vaguely recall that several FPME members did have some success with those opportunities.

No, not at all. The jobs board can be anything from fulltime jobs, contract work to freelance projects and image requests. We removed alot of the barriars that were preventing people from posting and using the system in the past to make it easier and more flexible.

The jobs board is a place to find different ways to make money as a photographer.

Is not calling it a "Jobs" Board possibly slightly misleading and a new barrier ?

Well, we can't think of a better word for it's purpose. Weather you are looking for freelance, fulltime, contract, image requests, they can all be considered jobs. It's a pretty regular term for freelance 'job' boards.

But, if you have a suggestion, feel free to let us know.

It was just an observation from me.

Medical Photographer I can relate to being a job but a request from one of the photography magazines for images illustrating graduated filters I do not see as a job, as such.

I suppose if activity in FPME grows in the future it may be worth considering creating categories within "Jobs", but I accept probably not worth doing just yet.

That's a great suggestion which we will definitely consider in the future. Thanks for your feedback.
