The Government has launched a wide ranging consultation by the IPO on the future shape of Copyright.
In December of last year David Lammy, Minister for Higher Education and Intellectual Property, launched a wide ranging consultation by the Intelectual Property Office (IPO) on the future shape of copyright.
The initial period of consultation will run until February 2009 and will be followed by a 'Discussion Paper' with the intention to conclude this work by Summer 2009.
That doesn't leave long for photographers and image libraries to have their say. With Freelance Photographers having had many problems with enforcing any breaches of their copyright in the past, the opportunity to put your (our) views forward should not be overlooked.
Further information and any comments you would like to put across can be directed at: copyrightfuture@ipo.gov.uk while the Issues Paper can be found HERE (485kb Pdf) at the IPO website
